How the template prints

The board is drawn at true size and split across as many Letter or A4 sheets as it needs, with a 1/2 in overlap at every join. Sheet 1 is a check sheet: a 4 in (or 100 mm) square to measure, the hole count, and a map showing where each sheet goes. Every hole gets a circle the size of your drill and a crosshair to punch before drilling.

The SVG and DXF downloads are in millimetres, with each hole a circle at the drill size and the board outline on its own layer.

Games it draws

  • Cribbage: 2, 3 or 4 players on a classic twice-around board (126 holes for 2 players), a 120-hole long board or four rows of 30, with start holes, game holes and skunk lines.
  • Wahoo and marble race boards: 4, 6 or 8 arms with home rows, start holes and a centre shortcut. 89 holes for 4 players.
  • Pegs and Jokers or Tock: a square, hexagon or octagon track with castles and start areas. 112 holes for 4 players.
  • Chinese checkers: the 121-hole star.
  • Peg solitaire: English 33, European 37 or triangle 15.
  • Custom: any grid, or a ring of holes, for your own game. Pick it from the Game list above.

Questions

How do I print the template at actual size?

In the print dialog choose 100% or Actual size, and turn off Fit to page or Shrink to fit. Then measure the square on the first sheet. If it isn’t exactly 4 in (or 100 mm in metric) on each side, the page was scaled, so print again.

How do I put the pages together?

Trim each sheet along the dashed lines on its left and top edges. Lay it over the sheet before so the cut edge sits on the solid line and the short ticks join up, then tape it. Holes near a join print on both sheets, so they should land on top of each other too.

Can I use the files on a laser cutter or CNC router?

Yes. Download SVG or DXF. Both are in millimetres, with every hole drawn as a circle at the drill size. The board outline is on its own layer (red in the SVG) and marks such as skunk lines are on a third (blue), so you can cut, drill or engrave them separately.

How do I keep the drill from wandering?

Tape or spray-glue the template to the board, then press an awl or centre punch into the middle of each crosshair. The bit’s point finds the dent. A drill press, or a block drilled square as a guide, keeps the holes straight.

What size holes do I need for marbles?

Measure your marbles and drill a test well in scrap first. The Our Pastimes guide uses wells about 3/4 in across and 1/4 to 1/2 in deep for 1 in marbles. This tool starts marble boards at 5/8 in holes 1 in apart.

Does it save my design?

Yes, on this device. Every change is kept in this browser and each game keeps its own settings. Share link gives a link that opens the same design on another phone or computer.
